Hi, if the check is front and facing you, it will be so the longer part
goes from left to right. To get to the area where you sign the back, you
first turn the check so you are looking at the back. Do this as if you
are turning the page of a book. This means that the longer sides of the
check art still on the top and bottom. Now you have to turn the check 90
degrees to the left and you sign the top part, near the top shorter edge.
I hope this helps.

INGDirect just released theirs yesterday, and even when I knew which
side was which using Kurzweil and the full scanner, it wouldn't take my
desktop scanned image either. I wonder what one really needs to have to
make these fly? How would I tell where to sign, should I get a check in
the mail, establishing the front and back by using Kurzweil first?

Subject: Apps which accept deposits - Was Re: citi mobile app
Just to pass this along that if you have an account with Chase bank by
JP Morgan, its app also allows you to make deposits from your phone by
taking a picture of the front and back. I still need help with this
even though I'm very comfortable with taking pictures of people and
other things, but with checks you have to get it just right, and you
have to know which is the front and back to be successful at it.

Yes, it does. Sometimes I prefer usingthe the app rather than the
computer to pay bills and check balances. You can also now take pictures
of your checks for deposits.
