I gave touch typing a try, but I still prefer split tapping. I didn't like having to take my finger off of the virtual keyboard at all. I also tried using the virtual keyboard in landscape mode, but I found I liked the tighter keyboard in portrait mode better. Moving my finger less beat out having slightly larger keys.
