Hi listers,

Glad to hear that someone else holds the phone like me; initially I used the
double-t and split-tap method, now I'm moving towards the touch and lift
method.

Regards,

Mike

Sandy, I'm sure others will have other ways of typing, but I, personally
type with the first two fingers on my left hand while holding the phone with
my right hand. The phone is basicly cradled in my right hand with my fingers
and thumb on the outside edges of the case, not touching the screen. Then,
when typing, I merely move my left hand up and down the phone, that is,
usually my first finger on my left hand. When I am typing, and the item is
to close to the left edge of the phone, I will switch fingers and place my
second finger on the surface of the phone. Note, that I am using a split-tap
typing mode on the phone, not the one where one lifts the finger from the
surface of the phone in order to execute a letter. I find this comes in most
handy for me although I have tried both methods. Caviot, there will be times
when it is necessary to double-tap the surface of the phone in which cases a
split-tap will not work. In these instances it becomes necessary to place
two fingers very close together, find the item which requires a double-tap
and tap twice, quickly on that item with two fingers.

Subject: typing on the phone

Greetings. I have just purchased an iPhone and I am finding the typing
daunting. I know people do it so I know I will get it. I'd be interested in
some advice. What fingers do you type with? Do you use only one finger or
do you use one finger on each hand simultaneously? My husband says he uses
his thumbs to type on his Droid but I wonder if that is a more sighted
approach. I find I want to use the same fingers I read Braille with.

To keep from cluttering the list, feel free to respond to me privately at

Thank you.
