Garth, I got it changed from archive to delete for my gmail account. This is so
cool.

Thanks.

Robbie

If you want, you change the Archive button into a Delete button for the gmail
account. Just go and have a dig around in the settings app. go into mail,
ontacts and calendars then into the gmail account in question. You will find
that message archiving is turned on, turn it off and you'll have a delete key.

All at once? No. But you can click on the edit button at the top of the
screen from within an email or in the all inbox folder and then select the
emails you wish to delete and then click on the delete button at the bottom of
the screen and presto, they’re gone.

      Cristobal, thanks, that works.

Is there a way to select all and delete?

There should be a move to button next to the archive button. Click on
that and you can then move the selected email to the trash or any other fold
you want. You can also just double tap and hold on the email from within that
particular account and when you hhear a little chime, make a swiping motion and
you’ll get a message asking to confirm that you wish to delete the email.

Subject: iPad, the email app, and gmail

        Hello all:

I have two email accounts on my iPad, a POP3 comcast account, and an
imap gmail account.

When I'm reading mail in the comcast / pop3 account, there is a delete
button for messages I want to delete.
However, when I'm reading mail in the gmail / imap account, the delete
button is replaced with an archive button.

        1. How can I delete messages in the gmail / imap account?

        2. How can I delete multiple messages, including threaded messages?

        Thanks for any help.

        Robbie
