Thanks for the good info, folks. Hopefully iBooks or Kobo have the books that are available in print or in Kindle format. It would sure be great to save the scanning time.

If the books you need aren't available from the iBook Store, try Kobo books. The Kobo app is accessible on the iPhone and they have a huge selection of books.
