Hi Krister, I am sure others will jump in and correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know the feature simply allows you to track the distance to a favorite more easily by placing it on the Ariadne main screen. This way you would not have to reopen the favorites list (or keep it open) when you wanted to look at the information for a particular point of interest.
There really isn't any kind of route planning at all in Ariadne GPS at the moment.
