I think that if you turn off speak hints, it will not speak the letters.
Personally, I like it speaking the letters. I would make many mistakes if it
didn't speak them. I have typing feedback set to words. On a keyboard I have
it set to none.

That doesn't work. When you touch the key and hold it long enough, it will
still say the letters that correspond with that number even if typing
feedback is set to none.
