Well it was pretty dumb on my part, Eric. It occurred to me the volume had got turned down on the earphone, so I just turned it up with the volume button on the phone and it worked. I was too embarrassed to tell you how much of a dingy I was, grin; but I really don't know how it got turned down. Patti
