I have not seen that the spacebar becomes unresponsive. My best guess is that 
you aren't touching it for long enough. This is one thing that does annoy me at 
times. When you start to type quick sometimes the key presses aren't 
registered. You need to ensure that you wait a fraction of a second on the 
spacebar or any other key before lifting your finger so that the OS knows that 
it is an intentional press of the key not just a glance. The other possibility 
is that you are sliding your finger down off the spacebar a little when 
lifting. This could be mistaken by the OS to mean that you were trying to 
remove your finger from the key without it being registered as a press.
