Subject: Re: Naval Combat iOS game app is free today
Hi Jessica,
The first link in my post was to the entry for the Naval Combat
app at the AppleVis site. This provides comments from users
about the app, such as using the Game Center for group play.
Since I did not have this app on my iPhone I supplied the link in
lieu of being abled to give a more detailed description of the
application. You can also get to the App Store URL by clicking
on the link to the App Store in each app entry's description at
the AppleVis site. The second link was directly to the App
Store, so you can purchase the app. If you do not need to review
additional information, especially since this is a free app, you
can double tap on that App Store URL link and "purchase" the free
app.
Just a few comments: I generally try to post the app store URL
with the name of the app and the developer, spelled the way they
appear in the App Store, along with current/past price
information. If there are any restrictions on use -- such as
apps that are only available in the US app store, like the
Pandora Radio app or the Mapquest navigation app by AOL, or only
available in the U.S. and Canada, such as the MotionX GPS Drive
navigation app -- I'll also supply that information as well when
I post, if I know about this. If the app is available in another
country, clicking on the link will bring you to the correct app,
if it is available in your country's app store.. In some cases,
such as in the case of Naval Combat, the discounted price may not
be available because of time zone differences if the app is only
meant to be for particular calendar dates.
I'll add that there is also a podcast on playing Naval Combat at
the AppleVis site. I posted both the app deals of ToDo Checklist
(that Eileen mentioned) and Naval Combat under the iOS App Deals
at AppleVis. If you check this category at AppleVis, you'll find
links to the podcast, also located at the AppleVis site.
HTH. Cheers,
Esther

I am confused. There were 2 links in your email but it sounded

Subject: Naval Combat iOS game app is free today
Hi All,
I just noticed that Naval Combat, an accessible,
battleship-style game app for the iPhone that was discussed on
the viphone list earlier this year, is free today. It usually
lists for $0.99, and I read some information that the price is
only for July 4, so it may be back to the regular price already
for European app stores. It is still free for the U.S. App
store. Here's the link to the AppleVis entry for the game, which
can be played with others via the game center:
http://www.applevis.com/ios-app-directory/games/naval-combat
Please note that the game is produced with both German and
English localizations, and apparently in the Danish App Store the
game shows up under the German name, "Seeschlacht", so use the
link I give below, or the one at the AppleVis site to locate the
correct app. The actual game play is in English once you
download the app from the Danish store, despite this confusion..
Presumably the game play is in German for German app store
purchasers.
Here's the App Store URL:
• Naval Combat by Jonas Eckhardt, Tobias Muehlbauer, Wolf
Roediger GbR (free for July 4, 2012, normally $0.99)
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/naval-combat/id408833350?mt=8
Note there is also a free Naval Combat Lite app, but it was last
updated a year ago, and I don't think it is accessible with
VoiceOver.
HTH. Cheers,
Esther
