It may be pushing things out on to pages that did not previously exist. Three finger swipe left to advance through the screens to see what it put out there. If you make a page completely blank it should delete it. At least if it is the last one anyway. Moving things can be a bit of a tedious pain sometimes because something will get bumped to a page you don't want it on. Maybe temperarily move things out to an empty or mostly empty page and then bring them back to the pages you want them on one at a time. First moving them out there opens up space so you have room to manipulate things how you want. I think that helps so as not to have to have to chase things around that get bumped one way or another.
