Hi,
I've had similar problems with my BrailleNote Apex. In my case, locking the
screen, then unlocking it usually does the trick. You shouldn't have to
power the phone down and power it back up.

When my braille display connects and doesn't display anything, it means I
need to turn my iPhone off and then turn it on again. Once it comes back on,
the braille display functions properly. I suspect it is some memory
fragmentation. After all, the iPhone is a computer.
