Yes, that is correct.  That way I can access my e-mail accounts on both
computers.  As long as I remember to allow one computer time to finish
uploading and then allow the other computer to finish synchronizing with it,
it works fine.
I now have an answer to my question though.  Once I set up iCloud
synchronization, I could no longer access my calendar and contacts on the
computer that I was not using to sync my iPhone with.  I ran into big
trouble, as I thought I would, so I gave up.

Are you saying that you have your mail folders synced in dropbox? The .PST
