I don't think your question was answered earlier. LookTel Money Reader works
with U.S. dollars, Euros, British pounds, Canadian dollars, and Australian
dollars, and currently has language support with VoiceOver for English,
Spanish, French, Italian, German, Polish, Russian, Korean, Finnish, Danish,
Swedish, Norwegian, Japanese, Greek, Hungarian, and Mandarin.

In order to add currencies to the application, the developer would have to have
copies of the bills currently in circulation to use as a training set, and also
keep track of new currency issues. However, I've been told that people have
successfully used the LookTel Recognizer app as a money identifier. This is
the second app issued under the LookTel name, and instead of identifying money
it is designed to let you customize the recognition of other items using your
iPhone camera. For best results, you would get sighted help to take the first
set of pictures that get used as a training set. That's because the better the
images that are used for training the app to identify items, the better the
success rate in item recognition. So if you had sighted assistance in taking
images that you identify as different denominations of Ghana Cedis (one, five,
ten, twenty, etc.), when you use the Look Tel Recognizer app and hold those
bills in front of the camera, they should be identified. Some users who have
the LookTel Recognizer app say they have also used it to recognize currency
bills.

I read through the information about these products at the LookTel support page
at:
http://www.looktel.com/support

Then I would contact the support team either using their email contact at:
[email protected]
or through twitter at:
@LookTel

You can ask them about the possibility of adding your currency to the LookTel
Money Reader or the feasibility of using LookTel Recognizer to identify
currency. They might have some tips about the best way to do this. You
probably need to take several different images of both the front and back sides
of bills. Again, sighted assistance in taking those pictures will probably
help ensure you get the best recognition results. Based on the set of images
that you take and label as specific currency denominations, the LookTel
Recognizer app should be able to identify the bills you've shown it when they
are in the view of the camera and the application is launched. However, it
will not be able to identify a bill that you have not already taken a picture
of.

I did check, and both the LookTel Money Reader and LookTel Recognizer apps are
in the App Store for Ghana. Here's the link to the LookTel Recognizer app.
(Both these apps are just under $10 in the U.S. App Store):
• LookTel Recognizer by IPPLEX ($9.99 in the U.S. App Store)

HTH. Cheers,

Esther
