Hello David, It sounds like you are experiencing the 5.0 IOS bug that Apple has decided to ignore until the next IOS update.
Because I use my iPhone for a lot of reading, this happens to me 1 to 3 times a day. I tried resetting my phone, which helped for a little while, but the bug returned a few days later. This bug has made me feel that my iPhone is now unreliable. Not much to do, until 6.0 is released.
