Hi there. Perhaps I am not understanding your question. However you don't clear the timeline when you read Twitter. You don't mark messages as read. Along the bottom of the tweet list window it will show you buttons called home, lists, mentions, DM's, and more. If you have mentions or direct messages which you have not read, those will have numbers on them. Maybe this is what you mean. If you want to clear those out so that the numbers are not showing, first tap one of those buttons to select it, and then triple tap the screen and then that number will be cleared out.
