Speaking only for myself, I'm waiting until this fall. I use an iPhone5, and it 
still works well. The 5S includes Touch ID, 64-bit CPU, more ram, a better 
camera, and so on already, so would serve you well for eight more months. Of 
course, if it's broken, that's a different story.

Upgrading would give you a better camera, larger screen, faster 
processor/graphics chip, NFC for using Apple Pay, a longer battery life, 
upgraded Touch ID sensor, and improved internal LTE radio. The last one gives 
you access to HD calls, faster LTE speeds, and more, but all of those require 
your carrier to support the features, and not many do right now. HD calls also 
require the other person to be using a device that can also handle the new 
technology.

The Plus offers all that, plus a yet larger screen, more ram, a way longer 
battery life, and automatic stabilization for taking pictures. The debate 
continues as to whether this stabilization actually helps in OCR apps.
