Hi Kimber,

You just activate the restore button, no holding down of the shift key is
required. Your iPhone will be restored and, if it wasn't up-to-date, it will be
updated to the latest firmware. At the end of the process you will be asked if
you want to set up as a new phone or restore from a backup. Select to restore
from backup and you will be presented with any available backup sets that it
finds. Select the latest one (I assume the backup of your old phone would be
the latest in case you have more than one) and if the backup was encrypted it
will now ask you to provide the password for the encrypted backup.

If your new phone is already set up and updated to the latest firmware, you can
go to the File menu when your phone is connected, then go to Devices and select
"Restore" from the menu options. This will go straight to any backups you may
have without first restoring your phone to factory settings.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: Help accessing encrypted backup

Hi all,

I hope someone can help me. I just got a new phone and I set it up as
a new phone in iTunes, but I would like to restore from my old phone's
encrypted backup. Can I do this after setting up as a new phone? If
the answer is yes, how do I get to the encrypted backup of my old
phone?

I cringe to think I might have to enter all my contacts manually if I
can't figure out how to do this.

Any help is much appreciated.

Kimber
