I can start at the top of the screen, flick right to the first message, the oldest that is, then flick left to back up through earlier messages. While on messages, I can do 3finger swipes up or down to scroll through pages of them. I have just backed up through 18 pages to the first in a thread. I really should start deleting messages to be honest. I thought the 4finger tap either end might take us to the first or last message in a thread, and take it from there. I struggle to get all 4 fingers on the screen at all, to do such a tap.
