You can add a pause between the number and the extension by inserting a comma after the number and then entering the extension. You can use multiple commas to get a longer pause. Each comma gives you about 2 seconds.

If you're not sure how long to pause then you can use a wait instead of a pause. A semicolon will wait until you hit dial again before it enters the extension.

You can get to the comma and the semicolon by using the shift key in the bottom left of the numeric keypad when entering a phone number into a contact. The comma will show up where the 4 is and the semicolon where the 6 is.
