Hi, I'd remove it if possible, purely because it's one less thing for the buyer to do and I've scene SIM card readers for sale before so there is a chance that a buyer could dump any information stored on it.
When you poke the stylus / removal tool into the hole you need to be quite firm. You will know when you've done it enough because you will feel part of the casing pop up ever so slightly. Once this happens use your fingers to lift it up and free it from the casing. Once the SIM has been removed just put the tray back in. NB: the stylus will have to have a very thin tip for it to work as a removal tool. If it doesn't work try a paperclip instead. Cheers, Ben.
