I would expect you will be able to get a 4s 16gb model for around say 99.99
with contract from the 3 big USA carriers once the next iPhone is released.

I concur with those saying there is no reason, other than a lack of
sluggishness in some cases, to upgrade to iOS 5. If all you want to do
is browse the web, read emails, and listen to msucic, it should be
fine.
I've been reading in several places now that the next iPhone will be
released on September 21. Depending on your situation, it may be best
to wait another 2 months and get the iPhone 4, whihc will likely drop
to the price of the 3GS, if past experience is any indication.
