If you want to use any talking ATM, anywhere free without surcharge,
consider opening a cash management account at either fidelity
Investments or Charles Schwab in the United States. Accounts can be
opened without depositing anything and require no minimum balance. The
accounts reimburse all ATM fees and surcharges. They also offer free
unlimited check writing and free checks. A free bill pay service is
also provided. Deposits can be made by sending a check in a
pre-addressed mailing envelope that the company provides or by free
electronic funds transfer from any bank.

When traveling, cash is a must for tipping, vending machines, food
trucks, and street cart food vendors.  Also, small merchants in big
cities can be extremely persuasive about preferring cash rather than a
payment card.
