I downloaded the Google app and looked for the settings that Jonathan
demonstrated in his comparison piece. When the app opens there is the usual
list of Google options including how to activate a voice search. I never saw
a speak answers button or choose language or any other setting options like
turning on the audio history button which a Google help files says is used
to record my voice, in order to be more accurate in recognizing my speech
pattern over time.
Is there a way to get rid of all that and strip down the page that
comes up to the voice menus? I don't even know how to get into the options
menu, and, an in the Google App settings on the phone there are only a few
things to turn on.
Can I assume that when I say ok, Google that it will speak all
answers that it is capable of speaking? It does what Siri does, which is to
give me the opening few lines of findings, but the rest is not spoken.
Right now I have a screen full of Steven Hawkins news. I don't want
to look at all that kind of stuff but is there a choice in what I am
presented with? I am longingly thinking of the "screen reader users..." hit
on this link to get a more streamlined version of the page that I see on my
desktop computer.
