Hello,

Thank you all for contributing to this thread. In an effort to reduce list
traffic, I will reply to your respective comments in this single post:

1.
Alan,
You do not need to hand your device to anyone in order to use Apple Pay. In
fact, in order to successfully complete a transaction, you must have your
finger on the Touch ID sensor.

2.
Teresa,
You do not bump your device against anything when using Apple Pay via NFC; but
merely pass your device over/near the transaction terminal. Generally
speaking, just hover your phone about an inch above where a person would sign
her/his name.

3.
Chris,
Yes, many vendors use a portable scanner in order to acquire the bar code,
however, some virtual cards don’t have a bar code but merely a series of
numbers that a clerk must enter into the system, manually.

4.
Wayne,
There is an excellent free app that is completely VoiceOver friendly called
stocards. After installing the app, simply scan the bar code of your store
reward card via the camera. This app uses iPhone/VoiceOver standard buttons
and gestures.

5.
David,
You got it right, my friend; that’s exactly what happened.

6.
Robin,
Believe it or not, there are many brick & mortar businesses that do not use
portable scanners, yet.

7.
Rose,
It saddens me greatly to hear that you are still unable to use your phone’s
Touch ID sensor.

Mark

Hand It To

The only times I have given my phone to store or restaurant personnel were when
using he Amazon Local app, so they could get the displayed coupon code. Once
they got the code, they gave the phone back to me.
