hi all. i had a question on this topic as well. i have never used a braille
display but i was just wondering if you are able to have the text output in
grade 1 braille? or is it always grade 2? the only reason i am asking is
because if i was ever to get a braille display that is one of the questions
that i would ask since i have always found that grade 1 braille is easier
for me to read then grade 2. many thanks for ancering my question. from
Mich.

Subject: Re: Brailliant 32 cell display experience
Hi Andrew, I can chime in here a bit. I haven’t had a chance to try the new
brilliance, but I had an older brilliant 32 and ran it into the ground
basically. The braille is crisp, it’s very responsive for both mac and
iDevices, (I used it with my iPad and iPhone both interchangeably, and had
no issues) and most of all it’s light weight and easy to cary. Like you said
it doesn’t have the note taking capabilities or at least the older one didn’t,
not sure about the new one since I haven’t had a chance to look at it too
closely but I liked the braille and the snappiness of the unit. Hope this
helps some. I have a focus 40 that again is another good display and it does
have the text entering capability but I’ve had it for a while now and enjoy
it as well. As long as it is 32 or 40 cells I’m good. Anything any smaller
and it gets a little cramped for me. Thanks again and if you have any
further questions don’t hesitate to let me know but that’s my take on it.
Take care and talk to you soon.

Hi,
I'd like to know your experience with Brailliant 32 Braille displays.
Please e-mail off list if you feel it might clutter the list. Purchasing
a new Braille display is such an expensive thing that I felt I would like
to ask a question here. please be as honest as you always are. I think
the display is by HumanWare. I don't need notetaking facilities but I do
need to know whether the display pairs easily with iDevices, and mac
computers and whether it can pair with more than one device. I also need
to know whether one can use it to enter text.
Many thanks listers, My old display - very old display - is showing signs
of having to retire so it is a major investment for me. For a while I
considered focus blue 14 but then I hear there may be problems with
updating firmware and 14 cells is really so few that I'm worried about
constant panning when reading in ibooks or nook or kindle.
Many thanks
Andrew
