And it may depend of where you travel. Google maps may be best for one city and Navigon for another. So, a demo of 3-4 gps apps may be useful, but if you are satisfied with the first one, you may be fine with that. Start with the free ones.
Take care 21. mars 2015 kl. 02:21 skrev Richard Turner <rich...@turner42.com>: I've read through most of the responses you have received. I'll go ahead and chime in though. First, it depends on what kind of information you most want. If you just want turn-by-turn directions, my personal favorite is Google Maps, especially with the latest update. You can do voice searches for destinations by name or address. It does a very good job and is completely voiceOver accessible and it is free. If you want to hear the cross streets as you are traveling and other information, then BlindSquare for $29.99 is very good. If you want excellent intersection information, including the angle of the cross streets, information about streets you are crossing, and a completely accessible turn-by-turn app, then spend the money for Seeing Eye GPS XT for $299.99 for a one time purchase, or Seeing Eye GPS subscription for $69.99 for one year or $129.99 for 3 years. If you come to an intersection that is not at a straight 90 degree turn, it will say something like SE 12th Street, 8 o'clock and 2 o'clock. Plus, one thing I like very much is that when it announces the cross street (if you have it set to simple intersections) it just says the name of the cross street and doesn't waste time speaking the street you are on. Mapquest is another free app that works quite well and is completely VoiceOver accessible. Motion X GPS is also quite popular at a low cost, which I don't recall right now. Navigon is also very good plus it stores the maps on your iPhone so you don't have to have an internet connection to use it. All the other ones store the maps in the cloud. Navigon is available in several packages; North America which includes Canada and the off-shore territories, Just the United States, or in regions like Western United States, Eastern United States and Central United States. Plus it is available for many other countries. But, there is no one Best GPS app as it really depends on personal preference and need. Hi Everyone: I am considering purchasing a gps app for my Iphone. I was looking in the app store last night and came across the Seeing Eye GPS app from Sendero. Since it is specifically for the visually impaired/blind, is this a good one? What apps do you all use for GPS? I saw where you could make a one-time purchase for the Seeing Eye gps...is it worth it?
