The sighted have a visual clue of scale before they do it, we have to feel 
around it until we get that clue of scale, and moderate to it after that. 
Mobility has the same issue, unless you have a mental map of some sort, of 
where you are, you're lost until you can figure it.

I prefer the positive reference points of real keys, like we prefer to feel 
real kerbs, unlike modern town centres which are going over to painted 
lines.  I'm not even going to comment how useful those are.

There is a relationship how we percieve these things.

I agree it takes some practice and getting used to, but I wouldn't say
it's quite difficult for the blind. I'm also not sure why the blind are
more used to making very large movements as compared to the general
population.
