In crossword puzzles, the words are all interconnected. For example, you might have the word "cat from left to right, there might be a clue for the word going downward, something like "to pull gently". The first letter might be the t in the word cat, and it would have three letters, as this number is indicated in the clue. It would be t, u, g. Similarly, you might have a word going down from the c in cat as well. So strategy is key.
