Richard, There is a gain control slider on the record screen, It actually goes
from 0 to 100%. When it is set on 0, that does not mean that the sound is off.
The volume adjust is actually part volume and part limiter. Well, how do I
explain this. The iPhone processing has its own limiter. So, when you have
filters on and are using the iPhone processing, you are simply turning up the
volume which also makes the sound closer and closer to the threshold of the
iPhone limiter. So, the higher you turn the volume, the more limiting you get.
With the filters off, this may not be the case. I haven’t played with this. I
do know that with the filters off, the microphone volume is at a lower level
and in that there is no apple processing, chances are there is no limiting when
you raise the gain to the higher positions. I haven’t checked this in the
update, but in the older version, you could actually change the volume while
you were recording. It does remember the last setting you were on.

Another question I am asked is about the quality slider. Its slider is also on
the record screen. When recording in wav format, 0% is 11.125 sampling rate,
50% is 22.5, and 100% is 44.1.

As for the spelling of podcastlette, JAWS only comes close to pronouncing it
correctly when you end it with two ts and an e. But, I’ve never thought of JAWS
as my grammar instructor, so I guess you’re on your own here. Smile.

Thanks for writing.

in full frequency mode

Neal,

Thanks for the tip about the filters.

I think you coined a new word. I love "podcastlette!" Not sure if you spell it
with one or two T's.

I'm going to tackle the manual from their web page, but if you could add one
more detail from your wealth of knowledge, that would be appreciated.

How do you adjust the volume of recording on the fly?

Thanks,

Richard

Hi, Like Boss Jock, this app now supports the removal of audio filters that are
used by Apple to make the internal microphone use less bass response than

the microphone can allow. Turn off these filters, and you have a very nice
sounding, full frequency microphone. While Boss Jock can do the same thing, the
Audio Memos app is less complicated because it is only for simple recording and
not like Boss Jock which allows one to add and mix other sounds in with the
recording.

One nice thing about this app is that you can turn the filters back on and now
you have the microphone just as it sounds with the apple processing. Sometimes
I want to choose, and with this app, I can.

There is a free version, and a paid version. The nice thing is that the paid
version is as low as $0.99 and you can then decide on the in app purchases you
want like voice activation and many others. The cost of the total app if you
just want to purchase it out right is $9.99

The interface is very straight forward with a way to manually adjust the volume
control and the limiter at the same time without having to deal with a lot of
technical parameters.

There are many ways to export recordings. You can use iCloud, email, Air Drop,
DropBox, iTunes, and you can even send them directly to your computer by using
a variant of your computer IP address to connect to the app. You can also
export files to other applications such as BossJock. In addition, You can
import songs from your music into the recorder.

Two links below. First is to the iTunes app store where you can read more about
and perhaps purchase this app. The second link is a short demo recording I made
using both the filtered and unfiltered settings in the app.

Enjoy.
