Mary,

I agree and I wish iOS gave us more control over file management but I've
learned to adapt. I believe the accessibility offered by iOS devices will
always be better than what Android offers and I place a much higher premium
on that than on file management.

Speaking of adapting, your Bookshare books are pretty much already backed up
in the cloud since you can always use either your iDevice or your computer
to re-download your titles directly from Bookshare. So as long as you know
what the Bookshare titles are either through a separate list you keep or
through the Bookshare website where you can view your history under the My
Bookshare link, you can always re-download them.

Finally, you could download your Bookshare titles using your computer and
place them in its Dropbox folder where they could be accessed by an app such
as Voice Dream Reader. I know this isn't a very convenient workaround if you
prefer as I do to grab Bookshare titles directly using Voice Dream Reader.
But you would have your Bookshare titles backed up in the cloud from the get
go.

If Apple ever gives us more file control with our iOS devices, I'll be one
of the first to take advantage of it. But I have to say that I'm not holding
my breath.

Good luck with coming up with a solution that works for you.

Alan Lemly

Hi Alan, my problem is that much of my library is from book share. So it
didn't originate with dropbox. So I'm not sure about how you would move
things to and from dropbox and keep the integrity of the books. I do have a
few things that did not come from book share. But most things did. I would
be interested in comments. It doesn't have to be to the computer. What I
wish is that I could back up to some sort of cloud service. It would be even
better of course, if Apple would let us just plug in a thumb drive and back
up the whole business to the thumb drive. That is one of the only good
things about android that I like over iOS. Smile.
