I got the battery from Ravpower that's 9000 mah with a little lightning
connector built in, and I think it delivers at least 2 amps on that connector,
and even the 6 seems to charge faster with it than the wall plug does. I think
most of these chargers now automatically detect the maximum current so you
don't end up frying stuff.

yep. my 6 Plus charges with the newer iPad charger which I believe delivers

The 6+ charges using 5V1A and the Anker you describe can output 5V3A
so yes, it will work.
