Uber is currently being sued by blind people in California for among
other things that include refusing a ride because someone had a guide
dog or drivers placing guide dogs in the car trunk.  The company is
fighting the lawsuit, insisting that accessibility laws do not apply
to technology companies.  a judge has dismissed Uber's claims and the
lawsuit is going forward.

I often call my driver and inform him that I am blind shortly before
he arrives.  I ask the driver to look for me with my white cane and
announce themselves or beep their horn so I can find their car and
know they have arrived.
