Hi Brian, liking music in Apple Music has different consequences, depending on
where you're liking it.
If you create your own radio station based on an artist or song, a menu is
available similar to the old iTunes Radio that helps you influence the kind of
music you here. In this case you can play more like the current song or tell
Apple Music you're not a fan of the current song.
If you like a song when listening to one of the Apple Music featured stations,
this doesn't influence the music you hear on that station, since the songs are
chosen by humans, not an algorithm as with a service like Pandora. However
liking music played on a featured station is still worthwhile, because it
influences the music you see in the "For You" tab.
And speaking of the For You tab, you can double-tap and hold on a suggestion
there to get a menu, one of whose options is to tell Apple Music you don't like
the suggestion you've been offered. Taking the time to tweak these things can
give you a wonderful music listening an discovery experience.
Even though Apple Music pre-dates iOS 9, there will be a comprehensive chapter
on it in my next book, iOS 9 Without the Eye, with plenty of Apple Music tips
and tricks like this.
Hope that helps.
