Hmmmm, do some email clients have an option to subscribe to certain 
mailboxes/folders?  I've heard of this.  Maybe you are just not subscribed to 
this spam mailbox on your computer.  I also have one more thought.  If you 
don't even want t see your spam folder, somewhere in gmail you can sort of 
unsubscribe to the spam folder.  I think it's in settings then labels.   I 
prefer to have access to my spam folder though.
