Guys A bit late to the party, I know, but this has been an issue for me for a while as well. I tried to learn Scots Gaelic a couple of times in the old days before iPhones and it was murder not being able to read and write it on my Mac.
Clearly there are two difficulties, dictionary and voice. The one is not much use without the other, I fear. I wonder if this is a case for making representations for these to be developed? I have long thought that the best way to preserve Gaelic is to make sure kids can make proper use of it on their iDevices. The Scottish Government spends substantial amounts of money on bilingual road signs and the like and I can’t help but think this would be a far more cost effective thing to fund. I am going to bring this up with my MP, who took her oath in Parliament in Gaelic, so must be sympathetic and I will report back. Anyone with any other useful contacts might do the same.
