Hi Fazil, I was going to send this directly to you since it's not exactly iOS related, but then I thought others on the list might find it useful if they want to post a long link especially since from time to time somebody posts something where the link gets wrapped to multiple lines, spaces are inserted and so on. Shortened URL's are also useful if you want to post a long URL to Twitter or other site where messages are restricted to a certain number of characters.
URL shorteners work by creating a so-called 301 redirect which links a long webpage URL to a shortened version which is created by the URL shortener. There are several URL shorteners out there, Tiny URL, Google and Bitly are just 3 of the more popular ones. They basically work the same way, you go to their respective websites, find the edit box where you paste your long link which of course you first have to copy to your clipboard, then there is a button to shorten it. The result is then displayed, you can copy it to your clipboard again and paste it into an email or post. They seem to be well-made and get very high ratings on Amazon across their product range of external batteries, cables or travel and car chargers. I also have their 2-port model which is plugged in behind the bed so my wife and I can have our iPhones plugged in at the same time and it works as it should.
