Hello William, If I am understanding you correctly, and I am not certain of this, you must connect your iOS 8.4 device to iTunes and select the books that you wish to be placed on your device, just as you did on your iOS 8.3 device. Since you imported the audiobooks to iTunes, the files live on your computer, not in the Cloud.
The only books that will automatically be displayed in iBooks are those that you purchased from the iBooks Store. Actually, there are several caveats to my statement but, genrally speaking, it is true.
