I think home sharing for music has been temporarily disabled. It will be coming back in iOS 9 so says various sources like Mac Daily News.

Hello all,
running IOS 8.4. In the past I could use the music App for playing music stored
on my iMac. I used to have a more option at the bottom of the main screen of
the App. In the more option I could choose to go to my network and get access
to all of my music. I can’t find this option now. How can I play my own music
on the iPad?
Thanks for any help.
Max.
