Hi,
Restarting it fixed it for one use only. I.E. I was able to pause a book but 
then couldn’t restart it using the same method. It is working fine in audio 
streaming apps such as Tune In Radio and in other places.  I have also rebooted 
the phone as I do so regularly and always when trouble shooting an issue. It 
had no impact herein.

Using the iPhone 6 plus, I find that if I have not restarted my phone for a 
week or so, the two finger double-tap to start and stop audio quits working in 
all apps. A restart of the phone fixes the problem until several days have gone 
by. So, make sure that your problem is specific to just the audible app. Does a 
restart of the phone fixes it at least for a while?
