Hi. I can answed some of your questions.

The brightness of your screen shouldn't effect the picturecomquality for the
other person.

Yes, you can change your brightness in the middle of a call. Place a finger on
any of the status bar icons, then perform a three-finger flick up. This will
put you in the Control Center. Find the control that says, "Brightness: 5
percent," a flick up with one frominger in increase the brightness, and down
with one finger to decrease the brightness. Press the home button to exit the
Control Center and return to your Facetime call. When you're done with your
call, just follow the steps above to turn your brightness back down. You may
want to keel your brightness at 0 percent to save even more battery. Note that
having the screen curtain on doesn't actually save battery life. On another
note, do you have auto-brightness turned off? This will keep your brightness
level the same no matter what if it's turned off.

Thanks,
Ari
