This time iTunes did not offer the update info as much as it did in the past.
I did my phone on iTunes since it was already connected, I did the iPad mini,
original over the air and it actually went faster, a first.

One last thing I forgot. You got along without iOS 8, why not wait a month or 5
weeks and then upgrade to iOS 9, this way you do just one upgrade and you are
up to the newest OS.

Hi Jo,

When you umpgrade, you won't lose your settings and passwords. The only time
you'll do that is if you have to restore your phone. I suggest upgrading over
the air for this reason.

Hi, I've stayed put on iOS 7 but have encountered an app that just might
persuade me to go up to iOS 8.4 a few of them actually. I'd like to keep my
folders in tact. How can I go about preserving my current settings and
passwords? Thanks in advance for your help.

make a note that if you think you will want to down grade you will have to backup your device to iTunes on your computer. It does not register the iCloud backup if you wish to restore.
