Hello list, So I have different languages selected in my language rotor. English US as my default along with English US as one of my options with Spanish Mexico and German.
The issue that I have is even though I have Spanish Mexico specifically selected, The Spanish Spain (Castilian Spanish) is used when I am working in translation apps like Google Translate or the various dictionary apps where you can have selected text spoken in Spanish. The same goes for flash card apps. I haven’t been able to change this behavior from within the individual apps and like I said, the Spanish I have selected is totally different than the one being used by all these apps I’m wondering if this is a default behavior of iOS and can be considered a bug of some sort or if it’s something having to do with each individual app itself? I’m inclined to believe the former as it’s pretty consistent throughout. It’s frustrating as the accent I’m aiming for and used to is not the one I’m being given even though I’ve specifically chosen it and don’t even have the Spanish Spain in this instance downloaded on to my phone. I’m studying for federal and state certification for legal and medical interpretation and use these apps quite a lot for the more arcane terminology particular to these disciplines. I am already bilingual and run my own interpretation agency, but am going for specialization in these particular fields. Indeed, The Spanish Spain Voiceover comes up when I switch keyboards too.
