That's true, though you'd need some knowledge about SQLite
databases in order to learn how to do anything with them. Or of
course I guess you could pop into a text editor and search for
part of the message and just copy it from there. Also I don't
believe this will work on official iOS installations.

A much easier way is to get a app called Phone View and this will
allow any data on your phone or iPad to be saved. This assumes
you are using a Mac. I don't think its cross platform, but a
Google search will do.
Thanks in advance,

Hi Stacey,
There are 2 things you can do. First, given the fact that a text
message is
typically pretty short, you could just type it out on the
computer and then
open Notes or List Recorder or whichever program you want to use
and type it
in there now referring back to your computer for the text. The
second option
is to open the message, then tap "Edit" at the top right of the
screen and
select the message you want. At the bottom of the screen there
are 2 buttons
which are unavailable until you select at least one message,
they are
"Delete" on the left and "Forward" on the right. Once you have
the message
or messages selected, tap "Forward". This opens a standard new
text message
window where you can fill in the recipient etc. Your message is
now in the
message field and you can double tap there to enable editing.
Now you can
flick your rotor to "Edit", flick down to "Select All", double
tap it and
now flick to "Copy" and double tap it. Now cancel out of the
message, open
Notes and double tap "Add" at the top right. In the edit field
now set the
rotor to Edit again and select "Paste". This will paste the
entire message
into te Note and you can tap "Done" to save it.
It's definitely what I would call a work-around, maybe in iOS 6
it is
possible to save text messages, but it's probably not high on
most people's
list of important features and you can always just keep the text
message
itself and it will always be there and as new messages come in
it will
eventually be at the very bottom of the list since they are
sorted with
newest first.

Sieghard
