The one advantage I've found with Overcast over Downcast or other podcasting apps in general is that it can play files at the 3x speed. Downcast used to be able to do this, but for a while now, once you try to play something past the 2x speed, the file begins to skip. I've written the Downcast dev about the skipping issue, but doubt that at this point it'll ever be addressed. Other than that, I can't say I'm much of an Overcast fan. There are some accessibility things I don't like and I find it to be at times sluggish and limiting. It is true, that Overcast is meant to be a simplified podcasting app, but I guess I prefer the more detailed settings Downcast offers.
