Hello all. I hope you are all doing well. I don't like writing these
kinds of messages, but it's only fair to most of you that I do this.
Please keep in mind that there are over 1300 users in this list. So,
while we were all raised to have good manners, such as saying please and
thank you, it's not really necessary to do so when all list members have
to be forced to see how well you were raised. Instead, if you are
grateful to a person for giving you the iOS answer you have been waiting
for, please thank them off list. That will show good manners to the
person who helped you, but also show good manners to everyone else who
doesn't care for thank you, or one liner messages.
Look at it this way, if I am a typical user who goes through 250
messages per day and there are 25 messages simply saying thank you, or
I'd like that info too please, then that is an entire 10% of the
messages which could have been avoided. If I'm that typical user who is
reading messages to get information, I may not want to see person X
thank person Y on a topic which I might not be interested.
Remember a few months back that I said when you write to the list it's
like you are taking hold of a microphone and say what you have to say so
all 1300 plus members can listen. Imagine that you are located in a
large room and someone is constantly taking that microphone and saying
things like "thanks", or "me too please". It would get annoying quick.
So, let's all try to have that good manner approach to both individuals
and the entire list at large.
