Hi Terri,

I haven't used any free ones, but my recipe app of choice is Paprika. It is
$4.99 in the US, $5.79 in the Canadian app store and it and does support family
sharing. Their website is www.PaprikaApp.com.
What I like about this app is that you can go into browser mode and then
basically do a Google search for what you are looking for and once you find it,
you tap on the "Save" button and the recipe is imported from whatever popular
recipe site you found the recipe on into Paprika. Here the recipe is displayed
in a very nice way, you have an ingredients tab and a Directions tab, you can
scale the recipe if, for example, you want to make a double recipe and all
ingrediants are calculated accordingly. You can also create your own categories
and select one or more categories for a particular recipe. For example, you
could have a category "Italian" and a category "Pasta" and if you have a
Lasagna recipe you could select both these categories for the recipe and this
way if you at some later time have a lot of recipes in Paprika and you want to
display only Pasta recipes, you can do so and Lasagna would be part of the
search, also if you display "Italian it would be there but of course you may
have other Italian recipes which are not Pasta and this way you can really
filter your recipes quite well.
There are a lot of other features like the ability to make shopping lists, have
multiple timers going and so on.
Paprika supports just about every major recipe website there is and often when
I find a good recipe on Food.com or AllRecipes.com I don't even try to read it
online where there is a lot of clutter, I just import it into Paprika where
it's displayed nicely, you can turn the rotor to lines and flick up and down in
the ingredients or directions screen and read what is there. There is also a
setting you can enable so the automatic screen lock function is disabled while
Paprika is open and this way you don't have to constantly unlock your phone
when you are cooking. As far as touching the phone with greasy, wet or dirty
fingers, just stick it in a ziplock bag, the touch screen works perfectly
through the bag and afterwards your phone comes out clean.
Paprika also has an app for the Mac and a new desktop application for Windows.
I did buy it even though the computer versions are $20, but unfortunately it is
not accessible. I do plan to bring this to the attention of the developers
because it would be nice if you could use it on the computer and iOS devices
since the recipes of course sync between all devices you use. I don't know if
it is accessible on the Mac.
Lastly, here is the app store link:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/paprika-recipe-manager-get/id392408028?mt=8

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: Accessible Recipe APPS

Hi once more everyone,

I was wondering, are there any free, accessible APPS out there, to find all
kinds of recipes?
I want to be able to search by type of food, like chicken. Or search by such
things as Mexican. I also want to have a way to collect, or save the recippes I
like.

Any help with this would be so very much appreciated. The AP needs to work with
a 4S.

Thank you,

Terri
