Hello. This is a message to acknowledge the newest members on list. I'm very sorry it took a long time to get you approved. I wish I had some excuse, like an earthquake, or "my dog ate the requests", but I do not. Things just got really busy over this summer and I got behind on many things, not just computer related.

In any case, please feel free to jump in when you see a topic which interests you. Or, if you have a question of your own, post away. A couple of things to keep in mind follow.

1. This list has over 1200 members. While we like to see a lot of useful traffic on list, we don't like seeing useless traffic on list. The difference between useful and useless is whether your messages have actual content which can benefit the majority of the list members. For example, asking about an iOS app, or how to do something with your iOS device is definitely welcome. However telling one person thanks for the answer, or saying me too to a topic doesn't really benefit anyone and so is not as welcome. Since I know we were all raised to say thanks to someone who helped with something, just let them know how appreciative you are through a private message directly to them.

2. This list has public message archives located at www.mail-archive.com/[email protected] and we highly recommend you check them out. It might have covered that question you want an answer to.

3. Subscribing to the list. If you have friends who want to join the list, have them send an email to [email protected] and then respond to the verification email. You do not need to have a gmail account to join.

I think that's about it for now. I don't like giving a long list of rules, but these are some of the more important ones aside from general, let's be courteous to others, and let's not flame others on list. Oh, and if a subject you want to talk about is off topic, don't post it with an OT line just because you want to warn others about it.

Thanks, and happy iOSing.
