Hello Rich and all, You have to know the exact password that you used when you first created an encrypted backup. If you don't, there is no way to recover it. I had the same problem when I initially could not remember the password I used for my back up. I called Apple about this, and they told me that there was no way to recover the password for the back up. It is a measure of security. Good lock, and hope this helps. Amy
