I want to laugh when I find that people expect a synthesized voice to sound
totally human and pronounce every word perfectly. I think the voices are
pretty amazing these days and if you experiment with the different voices
You can find one that is easier for your ear. The very fact that we have the
varied choices is wonderful. Life is and never will be perfect so why expect
computers to be everything for every person?

First, I could be wrong, but the method described here will change how
Siri pronounces something but not VoiceOver. As far as I know, you've
never had a pronunciation dictionary for VoiceOver on the iPhone.
Also, I wouldn't pay any attention to anyone who says VO isn't as good
as it used to be. VO has a lot more features in it than it used to have.
It may have some bugs, but this has always been true. Before just bying
into a vacuous statement like this, get some details about how VoiceOver
has gotten worse and make up your own mind.

That really is to bad. It was one of the nicer things about iOS 8.4.
Hopefully at some point down the road they'll put it back in. I don't
think voice over pronounces all the words correctly like it use to. As
some describe it, she sounds like she has a mouth full of marbles. I
don't know that I'd go quite that far but I appreciate the description
just the same not to mention it gave me a chuckle for the day. LOL!

You use to be able to tell Siri, that's not how you pronounce that. She
would come back and ask what word she isn't pronouncing correctly. Then
you could pronounce the word correctly wile she listens. If she said it
correctly you said, yes, that's correct. Then she would say I'll use
that pronouncation from now on. My wife decided to keep her last name
when we got married and it was her last name voice over wasn't saying
correctly. Sorry about uuuusing the words voice over. I meant Siri. I
haven't tried it with iOS 9.
